First check whether the chat is archived or just hard to find

Confirm you are in the right account and workspace. Personal and managed workspaces can contain separate histories, and signing in with a different email or single sign-on method can make familiar chats appear absent. Understand the limits of deletion and export
OpenAI distinguishes archiving from deletion: archiving hides a chat from the regular sidebar while keeping it in the account under ordinary retention rules. Deleting removes the conversation from the account view and cannot be undone through the normal chat interface. A data export can help you keep a separate copy of conversations that are still available for export. It is not a restore utility for content already deleted. If a conversation is business-critical, request the export before changing accounts, leaving a workspace, or removing the chat.
